A 2 x 1.6mile couple relay. Couples can be family members, friends, g-friends/b-friends, . . . ; About 24 degrees with a slight but cold wind from the west. We really warmed up after turning east to run along the south side of the zoo.

There were many clever and attractive batons that did not win awards. I, Jeff, was very impressed with a copper rose, with enameled petals made by Matt McIntyre. His girlfriend, Casey Atterbury, decorated the t-shirts they wore. His shirt read “Casey is my Valentine” and hers read “Matt is my Valentine”. “Sweet” was on the back of his shirt and “Heart” was on the back of her shirt. Romance lives.
